Overview
Recently Microsoft announced the release of next version of Windows – Windows 11. Like me, many started upgrading their computer with Windows 11 Beta.
But the biggest challenge most of us would face while upgrading to Windows 11 is Low Disk Space. And today I am going to share few tips & tricks I do follow regularly.
Format & Re-install Windows
BIG No, I would not suggest this unless it is the only option
My approach is to identify the folders occupying largest size on the disk and clean the content.
WinDirStat
WinDirStat is the small but very powerful utility. I advise every one to use it to check which folder on your drive is occupying what size on the disk. So go ahead & download it and feel free to use it.
This blog is not for WinDirStat so I am skipping it. Do share in comment if you want me to write a blog on WinDirStat.

Temp Folder(s)
I know, I know – this is common practice and you all must be cleaning up Temp Folder(s) on need basis or on a frequent internal. Also there are lot tools to help you with this. So I am skipping this too.
Delete Very Old Folders & Files
Before deleting any file or a folder, make sure to sort by Oldest-to-NewestDate Modified.
Windows\Installer Folder
Yes, if you NOT find Installer folder as it is hidden and system folder . But if you type it in the address bar, you will be able to navigate to it.
C:\Windows\Installer
You can delete old folders & files from this folder which can easily get you few GB of free disk space.
The C:\Windows\Installer folder is where some but not all applications uninstall files and folders are stored.

Windows\WinSxS Folder
Windows\WinSxS is a system folder. WinSxS stands for “Windows Side by Side”. It primarily contains system files and can be several gigabytes in size.
C:\Windows\WinSxS
You can delete old folders & files from this folder which can easily get you few GB of free disk space.
Conclusion
There are other folders which can be clean-up to free up disk space. But being too greedy is not good. And you need to be careful with deleting folders & files managed by operating system.
